Medicinal plants of Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
A short term project of Ferns has delivered a high impact product- presenting to everyone a book on the medicinal plants of Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. The joint effort of Ferns Nature Conservation Society and Kerala Forests & Wildlife Department has resulted in this exhaustive, first-ever documentation of medicinal plants of any Protected Area in Kerala. Kudos to everyone who did heavy fieldwork, literature review and data compilation for this pioneering study that lasted for three months. We greatly appreciate the dedication of our Research Associate, Mr. Arun Lal for finishing the comprehensive work in a time bound manner. Special thanks to all the frontline staff, especially the watchers of Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary who led us safely amongst elephants and tigers in the field. We release this book on the occasion of the International day of Forests. We sincerely hope this book helps researchers, staff of Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and the local community which has been using these plants for generations.
